Ban Heong Seng’s Beggar Chicken @ Johor Bahru

Johor Bahru:

The chicken may look not appealing but i can assure you that the meat will melt right in your mouth. nicely flavored with herbs and slowly cooking it in mud for around 8 hours. Please remember to make reservation for the beggar chicken at least a day before hand as they would need time to prepare. The dried oyster Glutinous rice is also made the same way. Glutinous rice cooked with little bits of dried shrimps and dried mushroom.

Next is Magic Fish , they remove the meat from the fish leaving the head and tail. Using the fish meat they made fish cake, reshaped it into the shape of the fish. I believe they then steamed it and before serving pan fried the sides. Making it crispy and tasty. My favorite dish.

The winter melon soup simply wonderful, double boiled in the whole melon. With a like light taste of herbs and refreshing taste of melon. Nice ! two thumbs up.

The total bill for the 5 of us is only RM 119

Hi Mr Blackie, thanks for your insight on Ban Heong Sen’g beggar chicken. I want to have dinner at this restaurant but could not locate Jalan Tahar on JB street directory. Is there a prominent landmark that you can provide for me to locate this road?

    Regards,
